After the planned update on Oct. 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., a new guardian approval system will be implemented to provide a safer and more reassuring gameplay environment.
Note: This only applies to researchers who did not have the Research Community button in their Main Menu prior to this update, but we are notifying all researchers about this.

Continued access and new account creation

After the planned update on Oct. 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., affected researchers who wish to continue playing Pokémon Sleep, and researchers creating a new account, will require approval from a guardian to play Pokémon Sleep.
The approval process will utilize services from Kids Web Services (KWS). For more information on KWS, please check here.
After the update, a guardian’s email address will need to be provided on the Pokémon Sleep app when the approval process is started on the Pokémon Sleep app.
During the guardian approval process, the guardian must also verify that they are an adult through Kids Web Services.

Unlocking the Research Community feature

Guardians will need to approve both general Pokémon Sleep gameplay and usage of the Research Community feature in order for the feature to be used.
Note: Researchers can still play Pokémon Sleep if approval to use this feature is not granted.

Affected researchers that wish to use the Research Community feature will need a guardian to provide approval through Kids Web Services.
