We’d like to tell you about expert mode.

What Is Expert Mode?

It’s a challenging game mode, and in it, there will be ways for all kinds of helper Pokémon to contribute.
It will be more difficult to raise Snorlax, but you’ll be able to get more rewards than ever before.
Prepare for expert mode by befriending and raising many different kinds of Pokémon.

How to Play Expert Mode

• If you’ve met the requirement for unlocking expert mode, you will be able to select an expert mode area on the Map.
• You will also need an Expert Ticket to take on expert mode. You can exchange 200 sleep points for an Expert Ticket at the Regular Exchange, or 100 sleep points for an Expert Ticket at the Premium Exchange.
• You can have a maximum of two Expert Tickets in your bag’s items pocket. You can claim one Expert Ticket from the expert mode tutorial.

Requirements for Unlocking Each Expert Area

• Greengrass Isle (Expert): Reach a Snorlax rating of Master 18 on Greengrass Isle
• Cyan Beach (Expert): Reach a Snorlax rating of Master 18 on both Greengrass Isle and Cyan Beach

Strategic Team Building Will Be Even More Important

• Snorlax’s favorite Berries for the week will be divided into one main favorite and two sub-favorites. Pokémon that gather Snorlax’s main favorite Berry will receive bonuses, such as shorter helping frequency.
• On the other hand, Pokémon that don’t gather any of Snorlax’s weekly favorite Berries will receive a longer helping frequency penalty.
• One additional bonus related to raising Snorlax will be selected at random every week.
• Instead of an area bonus, expert mode areas will accumulate an expert bonus.
Note: Penalties and bonuses that affect Frequency can differ slightly depending on the area.
Note: If an expert bonus overflows its limit, the excess bonus will be transferred to other expert areas, and not transferred to the regular area bonus.

Snorlax’s Favorite Berries in Each Area

• Greengrass Isle (Expert): The main favorite Berry will be selected from all berries. The sub-favorite Berries will be chosen at random from the 17 types of Berries that were not selected as the main favorite Berry.
• Cyan Beach (Expert): The main favorite Berry will be selected randomly from Pecha Berry, Pamtre Berry, and Oran Berry. The sub-favorite Berries will be chosen at random from the 17 types of Berries that were not selected as the main favorite Berry.

Obtainable Rewards from Expert Mode

• The amount of Drowsy Power required to see Pokémon sleep styles will greatly increase, but the amount of Research EXP, Dream Shards, and Pokémon Candies you get for researching each sleep style will also increase.
• You’ll have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon.
• Multiple expert mode–exclusive weekly missions will be added.
For example: If you sleep for X hours alongside Fire-type helper Pokémon that collect Snorlax’s main favorite Berry for that week, you can get multiple Handy Candies S as a reward.
• The kinds of Pokémon that appear can differ from those that normally appear in the regular area.
• You’ll have an increased chance of encountering certain Special Pokémon.

• Greengrass Isle (Expert) – Raikou
• Cyan Beach (Expert) – Suicune

About Different Kinds of Bonuses from Ongoing Events

• The bonuses that apply to Pokémon who gather Snorlax’s favorite Berries for that week’s expert mode stack with bonuses from ongoing events.
For example: The expert mode bonus that boosts the main skill levels of Pokémon that gather Snorlax’s main favorite Berry for the week by 1 will stack with an event bonus that boosts main skill levels by 1. The combined bonuses will boost their main skill levels by 2.
• When the bonuses related to raising Snorlax in expert mode are randomly selected every week, they will normally not be the same as those from ongoing events at the same time.
• The bonus that gives you an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon in expert mode stacks with similar bonuses from ongoing events, further increasing your chances to encounter them.
• The bonus that gives you an increased chance of encountering certain Special Pokémon in expert mode stacks with similar bonuses from ongoing events, further increasing your chances of encountering them.
